Police responded to two domestic disturbances in the last few days

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic disturbances, a fire, retail theft, damage and an order of protection. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Domestic disturbances

  • Officers responded to a domestic disturbance about 7 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of West Armitage Avenue. A woman told police that someone else pushed her during an argument, causing her to fall into the wall. The suspect refused to leave the house. An investigation is pending.
  • An officer checked on the well-being of a woman about 11:30 p.m. Saturday near McDonald's, 190 E. Butterfield Road. She said she had been battered by her boyfriend. She became uncooperative. Police could find no signs that a battery had taken place. An investigation is pending.

  • A small fire occurred about 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Melrose Avenue. A woman said she had set the bottom oven to self-clean and that it started on fire. The fire was put out before firefighters arrived.

Retail theft

  • Damiane E. Velez, 3, of Crest Hill, was arrested Monday on a charge of felony retail theft. She stole items July 25 at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, police said. She was released.
  • A 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, both of Chicago, were arrested about 6:30 p.m. Friday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on misdemeanor retail theft charges. An officer found the three in a car in the parking lot. They were released.
  • A 40-year-old woman who lives in the 700 block of North Eastland Street in Elmhurst was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on a charge of retail theft. Police said she concealed several items in her purse. She was released.
  • Deiker Perez and Dayker Perales Lombano, both Chicago 20-year-olds, were arrested about 6 p.m. Sunday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on charges of felony burglary and retail theft. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Vehicle trespassing

  • A 21-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about 8 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of East Columbia Avenue on charges of criminal trespass to a motor vehicle and no valid driver's license. She was driving a rental truck that was reported stolen. She was released.

Damage

  • After working out, a man returned to his car and found the rear windshield shattered. It occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Friday near Orangetheory Fitness, 187 S. Route 83.

Order of protection

  • A resident in the 100 block of East Crestview Avenue was served with an order of protection about 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Theft

  • A resident in the 400 block of South Stratford Avenue told police Saturday that some of his belongings were missing after someone else helped him move boxes away. The suspect was a caregiver assigned by his insurance company. An officer contacted the suspect, who said he did not steal anything.
