ELMHURST, IL – New Home Star recently paved its parking lot at 168 N. Addison Ave. in downtown Elmhurst, as the city has required it to do for the last couple of years.

Under a 5-year-old agreement, New Home Star had been set to get $335,000 in city economic development money for a project to build a three-story building.

But New Home Star was unable to meet the deadline earlier this year, with the company citing supply chain issues.

New Home Star later returned any city money it had been given. The money came through a city tax increment financing district, or TIF.

In 2022, city officials said the company was waiting too long to pave the gravel parking lot.
