Driver Cited After Elmhurst Crossing Guard Incident: Police

Police found the driver and charged the person with disregarding a stop sign.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an argument, a domestic disturbance, a battery, a burglary and trespassing. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Argument

  • An argument took place between a crossing guard and a driver about 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Road and Cottage Hill Avenue. Police found the driver, a 59-year-old Hillside woman, and cited her on a charge of disregarding a stop sign.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of East Columbia Avenue. A woman said a man was yelling at her and calling her names. Both said the incident never turned physical. The woman wanted the incident documented.

Battery

  • A person tried to gain control of a suspect about 7:30 a.m. Monday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. The suspect struck the victim in the face with his knee. Charges are pending.

Burglary

  • Someone tried to break into Ingersoll-Rand, 131 W. Diversey Ave., about 2 a.m. Dec. 7 by prying open windows. The person did not gain entry. Nothing was reported missing.

Trespassing

  • A customer forced entry into a locked restroom about 7 p.m. Wednesday at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive. The person was served with a no-trespass notice.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to stop a gray Audi about 3 a.m. Monday at York Street and Industrial Drive for unlawfully displaying a registration. The driver sped away and was last seen heading east on Interstate 290. The license plate was registered to a different car. An investigation is pending.
