Drug Possession, Scam: Elmhurst Cops
A man and a woman were taken to jail after being found with drugs, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving drug possession, obstruction of an officer, a DUI, a fall, a stolen car and a sexual assault. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Drug possession
- Laura Ortiz, 40, and James March, 42, both of West Chicago, were arrested about 2 a.m. Friday at Butterfield Road and York Street on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ortiz also faces charges of driving with a suspended registration and driving an uninsured vehicle. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Package scam

- A resident in the 400 block of South Fairview Avenue told police Thursday he received a text message stating UPS was holding his package. The resident was provided with a link, where he entered his personal information. The resident later discovered the text message was a scam.
Obstructing officer
- Aaron Keith Hutchison, 42, of Zaleski, Ohio, was arrested about 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of North York Street on charges of obstructing a police officer and possession of open alcohol in a public place. He was released on bond.
DUI

- Jermaine J. Anderson, 42, of Schaumburg, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Spring and St. Charles roads on charges of DUI (drugs) and improper lane usage. He was released on bond.
Fugitive driver
- An officer tried to stop a driver for speeding and weaving in and out of traffic about 2 a.m. Thursday at Butterfield and Meyers roads. The driver sped away, last seen headed west on Butterfield from Meyers.
Fall
- Officers and medics responded to a woman who had fallen down the stairs shortly after midnight Friday in the 400 block of Huntington Lane. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Stolen car
- Police received a report of a suspicious car about 10 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of North Willow Road. They then found a car that was reported stolen in Des Plaines. Des Plaines police took possession of the car.
Lost iPad
- A resident in the 600 block of South Fairview Avenue told police Friday that she lost her company's iPad while on a flight to Europe. It went missing Feb. 8.
Sexual assault
- An officer on Sunday met with an Elmhurst Hospital nurse who reported a patient was treated after she was sexually assaulted in Aspen, Colorado. The woman was discharged from the hospital before officers arrived. She did not want to speak with the police about it. Aspen police were notified.
