DUIs, Domestic Disturbance: Elmhurst Cops
Both drivers in a crash face alcohol-related charges, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a domestic disturbance, DUIs, soliciting, a fugitive driver, a dispute at a store and drug paraphernalia. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Domestic disturbance
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 2:30 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of North Berteau. One of the people was drunk and breaking items in the home. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
DUI

- A 41-year-old Lemont man was arrested about 7 p.m. Thursday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, on charges of DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, possession of open alcohol and driving an uninsured vehicle. The other driver, an Elmhurst man who lives in the 500 block of South Poplar Avenue, was arrested on a charge of possession of open alcohol. They were released.
- A 40-year-old Melrose Park man was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at Route 83 and North Avenue on charges of DUI, possession of marijuana in a car, driving an uninsured car and violating the median. He was taken to the police department and then released.
- A 38-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 12:30 a.m. at St. Charles Road and Route 83 on charges of DUI, driving with a suspended license, possession of open alcohol, possession of marijuana by a driver, and parking on the roadway. He was taken to the police department and then released.
- A 35-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday at Roosevelt Road and Route 83 on charges of DUI, driving with a suspended license, improper lane usage, speeding, improper lighting and driving an uninsured car. She was taken to the police department and then released.
- A 48-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at Route 83 and Second Street on charges of DUI, improper bumpers, improper lighting and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the police department and then released.
Soliciting
- A 38-year-old Chicago woman was cited about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at North Avenue and Route 83 on a charge of soliciting contributions. Police said the woman was selling candy without a valid permit. She was released.
Fugitive driver

- About 8:30 a.m. Friday at York Street and North Avenue, an officer tried to stop the driver of a white Buick Encore who was wanted for fleeing and eluding. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290.
Dispute
- A man told police that another person pushed him about 9 a.m. Friday at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. The suspect denied pushing the man. Police made no arrests because they heard conflicting statements and saw no signs of injuries.
Drug paraphernalia
- A 47-year-old Forest Park woman was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Jewel, 944 S. York St., on a charge of drug paraphernalia. Police said the woman was unable to hold a conversation or answer questions. She was released.
