Elmhurst Apartment Damaged In Fire
The fire was found in the unit's kitchen and quickly put out, the city said.

ELMHURST, IL – An apartment was damaged in a fire Saturday, but no one was injured, the city said.
The fire department responded to the fire shortly after 1:30 p.m. at Elm Creek Apartments on Elm Creek Drive, the city said in a news release.
Firefighters reported heavy smoke coming from a first-floor apartment's patio doors. The fire was found in the kitchen of the unit and quickly put out, the city said.

Water damage was reported on the first floor of the complex and fire damage was limited to the apartment unit where the fire started, the city said.
The fire department said it was investigating the fire's cause. According to a police report, a cat toy on top of the stove was on fire, which spread to some papers and bags.
