Elmhurst Artists’ Guild Hosts Chicago Women’s Caucus for Art

The Elmhurst Artists' Guild will host TRANSMOGRIFICATION, a themed exhibit featuring artwork by the Chicago Women's Caucus for Art.

The Elmhurst Artists’ Guild (“EAG”) will host TRANSMOGRIFICATION, a themed exhibit featuring artwork by the Chicago Women’s Caucus for Art, in the EAG Gallery at the Elmhurst Art Museum (EAM), 150 S. Cottage Hill Ave., Elmhurst, from Nov. 4, 2017 through Dec. 14, 2017. The public is invited to the free opening
reception on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 from 7:00 to 9:00pm.

TRANSMOGRIFICATION is as simple as transitioning from who we are by entering a cardboard box “the
transmogrifier,” as seen in the Calvin and Hobbes cartoon series. Or: it can be as complicated as altering
ourselves, art, institutions, and beliefs into the fantastic, magical, or bizarre, as seen in the metamorphosis
from a chrysalis into a butterfly, or in game arts. The artist’s interpretation makes it personal: in its dramatic
change of shape and form, appearance, emotion and mood. The medium, in most cases, transmogrifies: the
line becomes energy, the circle becomes a sphere, the portrait becomes self. TRANSMOGRIFICATION is
transformation with a powerful kick, a unique twist.

The exhibition can be viewed during regular Museum hours, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and
Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm and Friday from 11 am to 7 pm. Admission is $9 adults / $8 seniors except the
first Friday of each month which is the Museum’s free admission day. EAM and Guild members, students and
children under 18 are admitted free.
