Elmhurst Boss Accused Of Choking Worker: Police

In another case, a landlord told officers that a tenant pushed her.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a boss accused of choking an employee, a landlord-tenant dispute, theft of money, a virus scam, a threatening message, a tracking device and a domestic disturbance. Here's information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Choking incident

  • An employee at Luxury Nails, 181 S. Route 83, told police that her boss choked her while she was at work about 3 p.m. Sunday. The boss told an officer that it was just a joke. No injury was seen on the employee's neck. The woman reported the incident a half hour after she said it happened. An investigation is pending.

Landlord-tenant dispute

  • A landlord in the 700 block of Junior Terrace told police that a tenant broke the sliding door and pushed her about 10 p.m. Friday. The tenant said he tripped and fell into the door, knocking it off the rail. He denied any physical contact. Police said no arrests were made because of conflicting statements, no signs of an injury and no footmarks on the door.

Theft of money

  • A resident in the 300 block of South Sunnyside Avenue told police Sunday that her caregiver and her caregiver's sister stole money from an envelope. The suspects denied the theft. An investigation is pending.

Virus scam

  • A resident in the 300 block of West Third Street received a virus alert on her laptop and contacted the phone number provided on the screen. She spoke with two suspects, who persuaded her to withdraw money and deposit it into a bitcoin machine. She reported the scam Wednesday.

Threatening message

  • Ole Auto Sales, 260 W. Grand Ave., told police Thursday a former employee sent a threatening text message. The suspect said he made no threat and that he had no plan to return to the business.

Bike theft

  • A Decathlon Rockrider mountain bicycle was stolen between Oct. 28 and Nov. 1 at Lincoln Elementary School, 565 S. Fairfield Ave. The theft was reported six days later.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of North Walnut Street. A woman told police another person tried to grab her phone. The parties agreed to separate for the night.

Tracking device

  • A man told police that he found an Airtag, which is a tracking device, in the wheel well of his car Sunday at the Target Sortation Center, 615 W. Lake St.
