This Elmhurst Business A Target Of Customer Complaints: Police

Company is accepting customers' money but not doing agreed-upon work, report says.

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst police said this week they have received a number of complaints about a local repair business. A police report lists the business as Repair Geekz, 927 S. York St. This is the same location where police earlier this year arrested an employee after a report of open drug use in the business, police said

On Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a customer dispute at the business, police said. They met with several customers who said they were attempting to retrieve electronics that they had dropped off for repairs, the police report said. They said the business owner had not completed repairs on their devices, so they were requesting refunds, police said.

Officers said they also received several complaints from passersby, who said they had issues with the business.

After the investigation, police arrested Daniel Marchwiany, 31, of Glen Ellyn, on a DuPage County warrant. Marchwiany, who was released on bond, is associated with Repair Geekz.

In February, police arrested Marchwiany after a customer told police she saw him snorting a substance off the counter while working at Repair Geekz, according to a police report. When officers arrived, they said they found suspected heroin. Marchwiany was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
