Elmhurst College Hosts World Music Festival

Elmhurst College's annual World Music Festival began in 2011 and celebrates the music of cultures and countries across the globe.

ELMHURST, IL — The Eighth Annual World Music Festival at Elmhurst College comes home this year, with a main concert on Oct. 27 titled "Celebrate Blues and Jazz—The Music of America." According to the college, the main concert features selections from Eddie Sauter’s "Focus" for tenor saxophone and strings, and Corky Siegel’s "Symphonic Blues No. 6" for harmonica, bongo and symphony orchestra. Featured performers include Corky Siegel, jazz saxophonist Mark Colby, tabla player Kalyan Pathak and the Elmhurst College Philharmonic Orchestra.

The concert will be held Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel. Admission is $10. Tickets are available by visiting elmhurst.edu/world-music-festival.

Elmhurst College’s annual World Music Festival began in 2011 and celebrates the music of cultures and countries across the globe, the school said. Focusing on a different genre each year, the Festival has featured performers such as Liz Carroll, Ambi Subramaniam, Victor Mendoza, Liam Teague and the Kontras Quartet in concert with the Elmhurst College Philharmonic Orchestra.
