Elmhurst Cop Interrupts Store Burglary
While trying to flee, a suspect struck a police squad car, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst officer interrupted a burglary of a liquor store about 5 a.m. Thursday near North and West avenues, police said.
The suspects fled in two cars – a white Dodge Challenger and an Alpha Romeo – with the Alpha Romeo striking an Elmhurst squad car, police said.
Elmhurst and other police departments chased the Alpha Romeo onto Interstate 290 to the area of Austin and Adams boulevards in Oak Park, where the damaged car came to a stop, police said. Officers arrested two people.

The police officer whose car was struck was reported as not injured. The Dodge Challenger was last seen fleeing on I-290, police said.
The investigation continues, police said.
