Elmhurst Cops Arrest Man Who Escaped Last Fall: Police

Police found the man in a Chicago neighborhood that he frequented. His bond was set at $500,000.

ELMHURST, IL – Authorities apprehended a theft suspect who escaped Elmhurst police custody in September, officials announced Wednesday.

With the help of other agencies, Elmhurst police on Tuesday arrested Devin M. Revels, 27, of Chicago.

Revels escaped the back seat of a squad car Sept. 1 after he was arrested in connection with a catalytic converter theft, according to a police news release.

Elmhurst police said they learned that Revels had been frequenting the 800 block of West Belmont Avenue in Chicago.

About 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers from Elmhurst, Chicago, Cook County and other suburbs found Revels in a business in the 800 block of West Belmont, the release said.

On the afternoon of Sept. 1, Revels, who was taken into custody in Chicago, kicked out the back window of the police car and escaped near Interstate 290 and Austin Boulevard, police said. An Elmhurst officer was taking Revels to the Elmhurst police station.

Revels' bond was set at $500,000. He must pay 10 percent of that to be released.
