Elmhurst Cops End Restaurant Gathering

In another case, a woman said her AirTag indicated she was being followed, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an unofficial gathering, a woman being followed, a person talking irrationally, fake prescriptions, harassment and a battery. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Unofficial gathering

  • Police were called about a gathering of drivers of modified cars about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Sarpino's Pizza, 623 W. North Ave. Parked cars overflowed into neighborhood streets and other business parking lots. Officers helped the property manager end the event and disperse the cars.

  • A resident in the 100 block of South Cottage Hill told police Thursday that she received an alert from her Apple AirTag that an AirTag was following her. The other AirTag was not found. The resident said she would call if she gets any more alerts.

Battery

  • A woman told police that she was battered by a stranger about 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of West Diversey Avenue. No injuries were found on the woman.

Talking irrationally

  • A person told police Saturday that someone in the 700 block of South Stuart has been talking irrationally. An investigation is pending.

Fake prescriptions

  • A suspect used fake prescriptions to obtain medication between Dec. 21 and March 10 at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive.

Harassment

  • A resident in the 900 block of South Hillside Avenue told police Thursday that his ex-girlfriend was harassing him through electronic means. An officer told the ex-girlfriend to stop contacting the resident.

Retail theft

  • A man stole several items Thursday and Friday afternoons at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. An investigation is pending. The man was described as Hispanic, 25 to 45 years old, having short black hair, mustache and beard, having a tattoo on the left side of the neck and left arm, and wearing an orange T-shirt with a logo on the left front and the back, faded blue jeans and construction boots.

Dog bite

  • A person reported that his dog was bitten by an unrestrained dog about 9 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of West Fremont Avenue. Joseph Pajak, 43, who lives where the incident occurred, was cited on a charge of having an unrestrained dog. A bite report was filed with DuPage County.

Theft outside restaurant

  • Five aluminum chairs for outdoor dining were stolen Saturday at Mata Ne New Asian restaurant, 130 N. York St. The chairs were not locked.

Custody dispute

  • Police responded to a child custody matter Sunday in the 800 block of South Hillside Avenue. A resident said the mother was in violation of court-ordered parenting custody times. The mother denied the allegation. Both parents were advised to contact their lawyers to settle the dispute.

Identity theft

  • A resident in the 400 block of South West Avenue told police Friday that someone used her information to open several credit cards. The resident's credit cards have been used fraudulently twice.
  • A resident in the 400 block of North Emroy Avenue told police Friday that someone claiming to be from AT&T gained remote access to her computer in an attempt to steal her information.
