Elmhurst Cops Seek Escaped Suspect

ELMHURST, IL – A theft suspect apprehended by Elmhurst police in Chicago escaped from a squad car Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

Devin M. Revels, 27, was one of two suspects in a catalytic converter theft Thursday, police said.

According to an Elmhurst news release, Revels kicked out the back window of the police car and escaped about 2 p.m. near Interstate 290 and Austin Boulevard.

The transporting police officer lost sight of Revels in the woods along the south side of the Columbus Park Golf Course, police said.

Elmhurst and Chicago police are searching the area with police K-9s and a helicopter, the release said.

The officer was taking Revels to Elmhurst. The suspects were taken into custody near Cicero and Erie streets in Chicago.

Revels was described as black, 5-foot-11, 160 pounds and having a face tattoo. He was last seen handcuffed and wearing a tan shirt.
