Elmhurst Coronavirus: 19 Cases And 1 Death So Far
Willowbrook has the most cases of any town in DuPage County. That's because of an outbreak in a nursing home.
ELMHURST, IL — In Elmhurst, 19 cases and one death have been reported as of Wednesday in connection with the coronavirus, according to the DuPage County Health Department'tracker. The circumstances of the death have not been reported.
Elmhurst's number of cases makes up 4.8 percent of the total 393 in DuPage County as of Wednesday. That roughly coincides with Elmhurst's proportion of the county's population. Nearly all of Elmhurst is in the county; the remainder is in Cook County.
Willowbrook, which is relatively small compared with other towns in the area, had the most cases in the county with 40. Six deaths have been reported in Willowbrook, according to the health department. All of the deaths have been at the Chateau nursing home, which had a coronavirus outbreak.

The second highest number of cases was in Naperville with 31. No deaths have been reported. Naperville, which is mostly in DuPage County, is the biggest town in the county. (Aurora is split between four counties.)
Last month, the Elmhurst City Council gave the mayor temporary emergency powers in response to the crisis. He has pushed back the vehicle sticker payment deadline, among other things.
