Elmhurst Dealership Broken Into: Cops
Several suspects forced entry into the business, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving burglary, thefts and fugitive drivers. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Burglary
- Prompted by a burglar alarm, officers discovered broken glass about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday near the service bay at Elmhurst BMW, 500 W. Lake St. Upon further investigation, police discovered several suspects forced entry into the business, but left without stealing anything.
Theft

- A small Christmas tree was stolen between 4 p.m. Nov. 21 and 10 a.m. Nov. 22 in a front yard in the 100 block of South Linden Avenue.
- Several items were stolen from a secured storage unit between Oct. 22 and Nov. 23 at 297 W. Lake St. The victim said she was in possession of both keys and the lock was still secured.
- A Garmin brand GPS was stolen from a car between Aug. 8 and Nov. 26 in the 400 block of East Church Street. An investigation is pending.
- A salt spreader was stolen between Nov. 13 and Nov. 26 from the back of a woman's truck at 925 S. Route 83.
Fugitive drivers
- An officer tried to stop a driver with an expired registration about 1 a.m. Friday at Roosevelt and Route 83. The driver sped away, last seen heading south on Route 83. The car was later found at the registered owner's address in Westmont. An investigation is pending.
- An officer tried to stop the driver of a Toyota RAV4 for improper lane usage about 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Route 83 and Highland. The officer was approaching the car on foot when the driver sped away, last seen heading south on Ardmore Avenue. An investigation is pending.
