Elmhurst Dealership Doesn't Know Where Car Is: Cops
In another case, a customer stole an Uber driver's purse, according to a police report.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving the whereabouts of a dealership car, the theft of an Uber driver's purse, a found birth certificate, shoplifting, a DUI and drug possession, among other incidents. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Car's status unknown
- One of the cars owned by the Honda on Grand dealership, 300 W. Grand Ave., was being driven by a former employee. The former employee parked the car in Chicago and took a taxi home Monday. The car's whereabouts were unknown.
Uber driver's purse stolen

- An Uber driver told police that she left her purse in the back seat of her car about 3 p.m. Wednesday while taking a customer in Elmhurst. The woman checked her car afterward, and the purse was no longer there. The purse contained, among other things, her driver's license and Social Security card.
Birth certificate found
- A man walking his dog found a red folder in the street that contained a birth certificate, Social Security card and a number of medical documents. The discovery was about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday near Butterfield and Mitchell. An officer contacted the victim, who planned to pick up the items.

- Street signs were reported stolen shortly before 1 a.m. Monday at Armitage and Indiana.
Identity theft
- A woman told police that someone gained access to her work email and attempted to change her bank deposit information Oct. 3. Her workplace is Park Place of Elmhurst, 1050 S. Euclid Ave. No loss was reported.
Shoplifting
- A man loaded a shopping cart with laundry detergent, liquor and paper towels and tried to steal the merchandise about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. He was confronted inside the store and abandoned the cart. He entered a four-door white Chevrolet and left toward York Street. He was described as black, 55, 170 pounds, missing most of his teeth, and wearing a gray hat, blue jacket and gray jogging pants.
- Suspects entered the At Home store, 265 S. Route 83, with stolen merchandise from another At Home store and obtained a gift card in return for the items. The loss prevention manager canceled the card, but the suspects left the area with numerous stolen items. The incident happened about 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Bicycle theft
- A woman told police that someone stole her daughter's Liv mountain bicycle between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday from the bike rack in front of Rainbow Restaurant, 233 N. York St.
DUI
- Robert Diaz, 26, of Chicago, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Monday at North and Melrose avenues on charges of DUI, driving an uninsured vehicle, failure to signal when required and speeding. He was released on bond.
Leaving crash
- Riley Klump, 27, of Willowbrook, was cited on charges of leaving the scene of an accident and improper backing of a vehicle on a roadway. The crash happened shortly before noon Tuesday near North and Berteau avenues. Klump was released on bond.
Drug possession
- Abel Reveles, 35, of Aurora, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Road and Berkley Avenue on two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of criminal trespass to a vehicle. According to a police report, an officer spotted Reveles in a car that had been reported stolen. Police said Reveles was found to have heroin and crack cocaine. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
