Elmhurst DUI Suspect Armed With Loaded Gun: Cops
He wasn't allowed to have a gun because of his criminal record, prosecutors said.

ELMHURST, IL – A Streamwood man driving erratically Monday in Elmhurst was armed with a loaded gun, police said.
Larry Adams, 34, faces felony charges of being an armed habitual criminal, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of 100 to 500 grams of marijuana. He was also charged with misdemeanor DUI.
About 9 p.m., officers were told about a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee's erratic driving. An officer saw the driver, Adams, make an illegal turn out of a parking lot near North Avenue and York Street onto eastbound North, according to a news release from DuPage County prosecutors.

After stopping Adams, an officer witnessed the driver's bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, police said.
The officer then noticed a loaded "ghost gun," Polymer 80/PF-940 handgun, with one bullet in the chamber and a 30-round magazine in plain view on the front passenger seat, police said.

The officer also spotted 133 grams of marijuana in two baggies on the back passenger seat of the Jeep, according to the news release.
"I credit the police officers who bravely and safely took this intoxicated driver into custody while within his reach was a ghost gun loaded with an extended capacity magazine," Elmhurst Police Chief Michael McLean said in the news release.
DuPage County Judge Joshua Dieden granted prosecutors' request to keep Adams in jail until his trial.
