Elmhurst DUI Suspect Gives False Story: Cops

The man told officers that armed people forced him to drink, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – A drunken-driving suspect in Elmhurst told police Saturday night that armed people assaulted him and forced him to drink alcohol, police said.

The 18-year-old Glen Ellyn man, who lives in the 1100 block of Londonberry Lane, requested medics and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where it was learned his statement was false, police said.

Police said they found the man had driven off the road about 10:30 p.m. in the 300 block of West Grand Avenue.

He was arrested on charges of DUI, possession of alcohol by a minor, attempted obstruction of justice, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, transportation of open alcohol by a driver and improper lane usage.

The man, who was driving a black Infiniti FX37, was taken to the police station and then released. His car was towed.
