Elmhurst Eatery Victim Of Embezzlement: Cops
The theft occurred over about four months at the restaurant, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving embezzlement, a fraudulent website, theft, a stolen car, a motorcycle crash and a domestic disturbance. Here is information from the latest reports:
Embezzlement
- A former employee of 151 Kitchen Bar, 151 N. York St., stole money from a company account between Feb. 22 and June 18. The theft was reported Sunday. An investigation is pending.
Fraudulent website

- Someone created a fraudulent website promoting the sale of tickets for an upcoming fundraising event. This was reported by the Elmhurst History Museum, 120 E. Park Ave. An investigation is pending.
Theft
- Catalytic converters were stolen between 1 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 a.m. Thursday from two vehicles at the York Meadows Condominiums parking lot at 841 N. York St.
- An employee of Green Grass Landscape told police that he locked his landscape trailer while working between 11:30 a.m. and noon Thursday in the 200 block of South Chandler Avenue. Upon returning to the trailer at lunchtime, he found the padlock on the trailer's side door was missing and a white and orange, 12-inch Stihl concrete saw had been stolen.

- About 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of North York Street, officers saw a Nissan Sentra that was reported stolen in Countryside. Countryside detectives arrived, interviewed the driver and arrested another suspect at Super Ego Logistics, 677 N. Larch Ave. The stolen car was released to its owner.
Abandoned bicycle
- An officer removed an abandoned bicycle Thursday from the retention pond at York Meadows Condominiums, 841 N. York St. The officer contacted the bike's owner, who said he no longer wanted it.
Cemetery theft
- A bronze vase was stolen between June 19, 2022, and May 14, 2023, at Mount Emblem Cemetery, 520 W. Grand Ave.
Motorcycle crash
- A man's motorcycle fell on top of him about 11 p.m. Friday at Berens Park, 493 N. Oaklawn. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Fugitive riders
- Three motorcyclists who displayed no license plates were speeding about 11 p.m. Friday near St. Charles Road and Route 83. An officer tried to stop them, but they fled.
Domestic disturbance
- Officers responded to a domestic disturbance about 1 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of West Gladys Avenue. People were arguing, but no physical contact occurred. They separated for the time being.
