Elmhurst EMS "Run of the Month" to Elmhurst, Oakbrook Terrace

Personnel were recognized for their care of a patient who was involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident on Roosevelt Rd. in Elmhurst.

Elmhurst Hospital’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has awarded its “Run of the Month” for August 2017 to the Elmhurst Fire Dept., Oakbrook Terrace Fire District and Elmhurst Police Dept.

Fire and police personnel were recognized for their care of a patient who was involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident on Roosevelt Rd. in Elmhurst in August of 2017.

The Oakbrook Terrace Fire District and Elmhurst Police Dept. were first to arrive on the scene. Oakbrook Terrace personnel removed the patient from the vehicle. Elmhurst Fire Dept. firefighter/paramedics treated the patient and took him to the Elmhurst Hospital Emergency Dept. He was later transferred to a Level 1 Trauma Center, where he passed away due to his critical injuries.

In the “Run of the Month” program, Elmhurst Hospital’s EMS Team reviews ambulance runs by pre-hospital providers and selects one to be recognized based on the following criteria:

--Excellent communication from the field that resulted in the timely delivery of pertinent clinical information to the Elmhurst Hospital Emergency Department staff

--Superior clinical assessment skills that resulted in accurate recognition of a clinical situation
