Elmhurst Family Honored as Team Chairs for Les Turner ALS Walk For Life

Matt and Karen Toole served as Team Chairs for the 2016 Les Turner ALS Walk for Life at Soldier Field and brought 150 Minions.

A picture perfect day was the backdrop on Chicago's beautiful lakefront as Elmhurst residents Matt and Karen Toole served as Team Chairs for the Les Turner ALS Walk for Life on September 18. Matt, who has been battling ALS for six years, gave inspirational opening remarks to the crowd of over 7,000 participants.

The Tooles rallied 150 of their family, friends and neighbors to join their team "Matt's Minions" and together they raised over $23,000 for the Les Turner Foundation, which has helped the Toole Family tremendously as they battle this heart breaking disease.

The Les Turner Foundation helps people currently living with ALS (PALS) and their families through the Foundation’s Home and Community Service and grant programs. It also supports the Les Turner ALS Research and Patient Center at Northwestern Medicine where PALS are seen by a multi-disciplinary clinical staff at the Lois Insolia ALS Clinic, ensuring no part of their disease goes unseen and untreated.
