Elmhurst Fatal Crash Victim Identified

The pedestrian lived near the site where she was struck by a car.

ELMHURST, IL – A pedestrian who was killed in a crash early Friday morning was identified Monday.

She was 74-year-old Rosemary Rice, according to the DuPage County Coroner's Office.

Rice lived in a townhome complex northeast of York Street and Diversey Avenue, according to public records.

Police said Rice was walking from Shell gas station, which is at the northwest corner of the same intersection when she was struck. It occurred about 6:30 a.m. when there was partial fog and rain, police said.

Shortly after, Rice was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital.

According to Rice's obituary, she was retired from the Canadian National Railroad.
