Elmhurst Firm's Worker Stole At Least $100K: Police
The employee fraudulently used the company's credit card for several purchases, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – An employee of an Elmhurst company is accused of stealing $100,000 to $500,000 from his employer over 14 months, Elmhurst police said.
John M. Montalbano, 41, of Riverside, was arrested on charges of identity theft over $100,000 and theft of $100,000 to $500,000. The victim was Chicago Water & Fire Restoration, 720 N. Larch Ave., police said.
Police said Montalbano fraudulently used the company's credit card to complete several purchases, police said.

The thefts were believed to have occurred from July 2021 to September 2022. Police said Montalbano turned himself in Friday because of a warrant, police said. He was released.
Several business aggregation websites indicate Montalbano was the company's general manager.
