Elmhurst Gets New Business Official

The position has gone vacant for the last four months. The new official is coming from the Hinsdale village government.

ELMHURST, IL – The city of Elmhurst is hiring a new business development manager, a position that went vacant four months ago.

Heather Bereckis, Hinsdale's superintendent of parks and recreation, is starting in the city position July 27, according to a city news release.

Bereckis has worked in Hinsdale since 2013.

In March, Erin Jason, who held the business development position, left to become the assistant manager in Highland Park. She was with the city for 15 years.

In Hinsdale, Bereckis not only manages the parks, but also oversees all aspects of the village's economic development initiatives, the Elmhurst news release said.

Bereckis has designed and carried out local business campaigns and acted as a staff liaison to Hinsdale's Economic Development Commission.

Bereckis was credited with developing and fostering successful partnerships with a number of local organizations and businesses, the release said.

In Elmhurst, Bereckis is expected to identify and attract new businesses to town, support the growth of existing companies and manage incentive-based programs, among other things.

"I welcome her to our team and am confident that she will thrive in this position," Elmhurst City Manager Jim Grabowski said in the release.
