Elmhurst History Museum’s “Clue” Game starts August 1

Calling all sleuths who love a good game of "Clue"! Put on your detective hats for an outdoor summer adventure by playing the Elmhurst History Museum’s “Elmhurst History Museum Clue Game” from August 1-September 1, 2020.

As the dog days of August loom and boredom starts creeping in, the Elmhurst History Museum Clue game is here to combat the end of summer doldrums. The Elmhurst History Museum staff has created a local version of the popular “Clue” board game that offers a fun outdoor diversion for all ages.

Here’s how to play Elmhurst Clue: The Elmhurst History Museum Clue Game starts with a crime committed at the Churchville Schoolhouse. The Schoolmarm went to the one-room Schoolhouse to prepare for fall classes and found a broken window. She realized her favorite pointer stick was missing. Before she can start the new school year, she needs to find out: WHO took the Schoolmarm’s favorite pointer stick, WHAT object was used to break the Schoolhouse window, and WHERE did the suspect hide the object?

Step 1: Go to www.elmhursthistory.org to download the Clue "Detective Dossier" and learn how to play or pick one up in the museum gift shop during open hours (SU & TU-FR 1-5, SA 10-5).

Step 2: Look for clues in the windows of six designated locations in the downtown Elmhurst area (Elmhurst History Museum, Elmhurst Public Library, LW Reedy Realty, Elmhurst Art Museum, Pints and Kilwin’s) and check the clues off on your dossier.

Step 3: Use your deductive reasoning skills to determine the suspect, object and location—then make an official accusation.

Step 4: E-mail your accusation by September 1, 2020 to the Elmhurst History Museum at: ehmeducator@elmhurst.org.
