Elmhurst Holds 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

ELMHURST, IL — The city of Elmhurst is inviting the community to the 17th anniversary Sept. 11 ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Fire Station #2, 601 S. York Road, Elmhurst. According to the city, the ceremony will commemorate Patriot Day and the National Day of Remembrance. True Patriots Care Honor Flags will be set up to memorialize the 403 first responders who died that day.

“Remembering those brave people who lost their lives 17 years ago during the 9/11 tragedy is important as our country moves forward,” Deputy Fire Chief Bill Anaszewicz said in a release. “We will continue to honor those who died, the first responders and those affected by the incident.”

The public is invited to attend the event.
