Elmhurst Hospital taking part in Little Hats, Big Hearts

Little Hats, Big Hearts raises awareness of heart disease and congenital heart defects.

Edward and Elmhurst Hospitals, part of Edward-Elmhurst Health, are participating in the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Little Hats, Big Hearts program again this year. Babies born at each of the hospitals during February will receive a red hat (see photo from last year).

Edward-Elmhurst is working with the AHA and Children’s Heart Foundation to raise awareness of heart disease through the Little Hats, Big Hearts program. The AHA collects red baby hats knitted or crocheted by volunteers and distributes them to babies born at participating hospitals across the country during February, which is American Heart Month.

Eight in 1,000 babies are born with a heart defect. Little Hats, Big Hearts raises awareness of heart disease, the number one killer of Americans, and congenital heart defects, the most common type of birth defect in the U.S.
