Elmhurst Library Hosts X-STREAM Fest

The fest will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20.

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst Public Library’s first-ever X-STREAM Fest is part science fair, part maker fair, and part museum. Attendees can expect to get hands-on with each of the six STREAM disciplines. The fest will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20.

The library said Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math will be represented throughout the library building with experiments, creative projects, explosive demonstrations, and exciting new library collections.

Featured exhibitors include: Argonne National Lab, College of DuPage, DuPage Children’s Museum, Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust, Elmhurst Art Museum, Evolve Project, High Touch High Tech Science Made Fun, Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum, Midwest Torrance Center for Creativity, NASA, Science Olympiad, Lizzadro Museum, and Sci-Tech Hands On Museum.

Participants may pick up a STREAM passport in the Lobby when they arrive. The library said you can submit a completed passport to be eligible to win prizes for the whole family.

The shows will feature chemistry, physics, engineering, and experiments that both educate and entertain the entire family, the library said. You can pick up tickets for these Big Science Demonstrations, available the morning of the program at the X-STREAM table in the lobby.

The demonstrations at the fest include:

  • Mad Science Storytime, 10:45 a.m., ages 3-7
  • Cryogenics Show: Mr. Freeze of Fermilab, 12:30 p.m., all ages
  • Spooky Science: Scientist Steve Belliveau, 1:30 p.m., all ages
  • Cryogenics Show: Mr. Freeze of Fermilab, 2 p.m., all ages
  • Sensational Science: Scientist Steve Belliveau, 3 p.m., all ages
