Elmhurst Mail Carrier Screams At Dog Walker: Cops

In another case, an unlocked car was stolen in an Elmhurst neighborhood, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving disorderly conduct, a stolen car, impersonation, domestic battery, a purse theft, threats to a business and a drunk woman. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Disorderly conduct

  • A mail carrier screamed at a woman while she walked her dog past him about 1 p.m. Wednesday near South Street and Prairie Avenue. An investigation is pending.

Stolen car

  • An unlocked Audi Q5 was stolen about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday from a driveway in the 600 block of South Mitchell Avenue. The keys were inside. An investigation is pending.

Impersonation

  • A man called Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive, about 8:30 p.m. Monday impersonating a corporate employee. He provided proper corporate codes and told an employee to transfer money. The money was transferred to an unknown place in Arizona.

  • A resident in the 500 block of West Second Street told police that a person arrived at her house and argued with her. The suspect took the woman's car keys and left in her car. West Chicago police later found the car. It was towed for safekeeping. An investigation is pending. The crimes were listed as domestic battery and motor vehicle theft.

Purse theft

  • A woman told police that her purse was stolen about 1 p.m. Monday while picking up food at Cilantro Taco Grill, 677 N. York St. Her driver's license, money and a debit card were in the purse. She reported the theft three hours later. She had discovered several unauthorized transactions on her card.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 3 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of South Hawthorne Avenue. A man said he and his girlfriend had an argument, and his girlfriend left. He refused to provide any other information.

Threats to business

  • A former employee of Napleton's Kia of Elmhurst, 727 W. Grand Ave., sent threatening messages to the business. The dealership asked police to serve the former worker with a no-trespass notice. The suspect is set to come into the police station to be served with the no-trespass notice.

Drunk woman

  • A drunk woman was found lying on a sidewalk about 2 p.m. Monday at Berkley Avenue and Randolph Street. Medics were called, but the woman refused treatment. Her husband took her home.

DUI

  • A 69-year-old Oak Park woman was arrested about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Brush Hill Road and York Street on charges of DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. She was taken to the police station and then released.
