The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, has awarded Elmhurst Hospital an A in its Fall 2019 Hospital Safety Grades. Elmhurst Hospital is one of only 36 hospitals in the U.S. to achieve an A in every grading cycle since Leapfrog began the Hospital Safety Grades in 2012. “We take great pride in achieving straight A’s. It’s a confirmation of our culture, an approach that says every person and department in the hospital is part of the effort to provide safe care,” says Pamela Dunley, President & CEO, Elmhurst Hospital. “The A grade means our patients experience significantly fewer infections during their stay, fewer complications and they can go home sooner. We have fewer readmissions and our patients are happier because they feel safe while they’re here.”

The Leapfrog Group is a national organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. Leapfrog uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D or F grade twice a year to 2,600 acute-care hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care.
