Elmhurst Man Accused Of Domestic Battery: Cops

ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic battery, a falling intoxicated man, stolen catalytic converters, an altered check, a car burglary and a bicycle theft. Here is information from the police reports:

Intoxicated man falls

• An officer found a man who appeared to be highly intoxicated about 8:30 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of West Park Avenue. While walking down some stairs, the man lost his balance and fell, striking his head on the pavement. The victim suffered an injury and was taken by ambulance to Elmhurst Hospital.

Catalytic converters stolen

• A catalytic converter was stolen from a car between 2 p.m. Dec. 4 and 6:30 a.m. Dec. 6 at Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave. Another converter was removed from a Mitsubishi Outlander about 1:30 a.m. Thursday at My Choice Motors, 530 W. Grand Ave.

Bicycle found

• A men's mountain bicycle was found Thursday in the 400 block of South Poplar Avenue. It was spray-painted yellow and had black electric tape on the left handle bar. An officer took possession of the bike and placed it into evidence for safekeeping.

Altered check

• TransChicago Truck, 776 N. York St., told police Friday that someone altered a check and made it payable to himself or herself. The victim contacted the bank and was able to stop payment. An investigation is pending.

Car burglary

• Someone broke a window of a car and removed a black backpack containing a girl's school-issued laptop computer and several textbooks. The incident occurred between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. Sunday at Courtyard by Marriott, 370 N. Route 83.

Identity theft

• A resident in the 600 block of South Washington Street told police Sunday that someone used her personal information to make six online purchases using the resident's credit card.

Bicycle theft

• An unlocked black bicycle was stolen between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday from a bike rack at York High School, 355 S. Charles Road.

Lost wallet

• A woman told police that she possibly dropped her wallet at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St., about noon Sunday. She later learned two of her credit cards were used at Walmart and Macy's in Oak Brook.
