Elmhurst Man Accused Of Gun Violations: Police
The man was found to have a gun, even though he is ineligible, report says.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst police responded to a report of shots fired mid-afternoon Friday in the 800 block of South Poplar Avenue, according to a police report.
Through a warrant the next day, police found a 9mm handgun and ammunition in the home of William Friel, 34, who lives in the block in question, the report said. He is ineligible to obtain a firearm owner’s identification card, police said.
Friel was charged with two counts of felony possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail, where he remained as of Monday afternoon, according to jail records.
