Elmhurst Man Gets Fraudulent Paycheck, Tells Police

In another case, the fire department forced entry into a woman's house to check on her well-being, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a fraudulent paycheck, a disoriented woman, a missing man, a battery, a GPS alert, a suspicious man, a stolen phone and a disturbance. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Fraudulent paycheck

  • A resident in the 100 block of Van Buren Street told police that his paycheck from his new employer was fraudulent. He discovered this when trying to cash the check.

  • To check a resident's well-being, the fire department forced entry into a house about 3 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Kent Avenue. The victim, who appeared disoriented, was found. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Missing man

  • A woman reported that her husband, who was near Harvard Street and Kirk Avenue, was missing about 6 p.m. Thursday. He was later found at Elmhurst Hospital.

  • A person is suspected of striking another about 5:30 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of Butterfield Road. An investigation is pending.

GPS alert

  • About 1 p.m. Thursday, an officer received a GPS alarm that a suspect had driven past an area in the 300 block of West Lake Street, where a victim was believed to be. However, it was not listed as an area of protection. A GPS technician verified that the suspect had driven past, but did not violate any order.

Suspicious man

  • Police were called about a suspicious man around 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Pilot Pete's Coffee and Treats, which is at the downtown train station. The 59-year-old Villa Park man was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court on a trespassing charge. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Stolen phone

  • A woman told police that her phone was stolen about 10:30 a.m. Friday in the building at 590 S. York St. The building includes Riley's Gathering Space, Passions Nail Spa and Spring Cleaners.

Disturbance

  • A person caused a disturbance about 4 a.m. Sunday at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive. The person was served with a no-trespass notice and asked to leave.
