Elmhurst Man Lured To Fake Movie Job: Cops
A suspect had one seemingly small request as part of the hiring, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a fraudulent job, a restaurant disturbance, yelling, a gas leak, a child custody issue and theft. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Fake job
- A resident in the 1000 block of East Knighton Place told police Friday that someone hired him for a movie filming job, sent him a check to deposit and requested the resident send the money to another person. The resident sent the money from his checking account before the check cleared. The check was later found to be fraudulent.
Restaurant disturbance

- A drunk person was causing a disturbance about 9 p.m. Sunday at Buffalo Wild Wings, 149 N. York St. The person was issued a no-trespass notice and left without any problems.
Yelling
- Officers responded about 8 a.m. Saturday to a house in the 200 block of South Glenview Avenue for the report of someone yelling. Officers spoke with the resident, who denied yelling. Officers were unable to contact the person who complained. An investigation is pending.
Gas leak

- An officer and firefighters responded to a gas leak about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of North York Street. They forced entry into the resident's apartment after they received a strong reading of gas. The person was found asleep and said he forgot his stove was on after making dinner.
Custody issue
- A resident in the 200 block of North Willow Road told police Sunday that a person had been withholding her children and refusing to return them. The suspect eventually gave up custody of the children.
Theft
- Someone broke into a storage unit and stole Christmas decorations last week at Life Storage, 953 S. Route 83.
