Elmhurst Man Pushes Neighbor In Pool Dispute: Cops

In another case, burning food prompts the fire department's response, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a neighbor fight, a fire, a house burglary, check fraud and harassment. Here is information from the reports:

Neighbor fight

  • A resident in the 600 block of North Emroy Avenue told police that he pushed his neighbor off of his property about 4:30 p.m. Friday. The neighbor accused the resident of draining a pool onto his property. The neighbor refused to leave. He was told not to go onto the resident's property again.

House fire

  • The fire department responded to a fire alarm about 10 a.m. Friday at a house in the 700 block of North Kenilworth Avenue. Firefighters detected the odor of smoke coming from inside the house. They forced entry and discovered burning food inside.

House burglary

  • Someone burglarized a house overnight Thursday at a house in the 200 block of South Lawndale Avenue. The person forced entry through the back patio screen door. Nothing appeared to be stolen.

  • A representative of Bethel Baptist Church, 315 E. St. Charles Road, told police Friday that he wrote a check and mailed it, but the intended recipient never received it. The check was cashed by someone else.

Harassment

  • A resident in the 600 block of South Fairview Avenue told police Friday that he and his wife were harassed through Facebook Messenger by an ex-boyfriend of a woman he previously dated.
