Elmhurst Man Steals From Restaurant: Cops
He was released on bond after being charged with theft.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst man who has been in trouble before left a local restaurant without paying for food last week, police said.
William Friel, 35, who lives in the 800 block of South Poplar Avenue, was arrested about 2 p.m. Thursday on a charge of theft. Police said the theft was at Harlo Grill, 929 S. York St.
Friel was released on bond.

In January 2021, Friel was arrested at his house on two counts of domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic battery.
According to a police report, the victim said Friel became irate and pushed her. He was also arrested on a domestic battery charge in the same block in 2018.

In both cases, DuPage County prosecutors decided against prosecuting, saying they had no complaining witness, according to court records.
