Elmhurst Man Steals From Woman: Cops

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst man was seen fighting with a woman and stealing her two backpacks Sunday afternoon, police said.

The incident happened about 3 p.m. near Route 83 and St. Charles Road.

Nicholas Santiago, 52, was charged with two counts of theft. He lives on Concord Street, which is in the unincorporated area south of Elmhurst's city limit.

After he stole the backpacks, Santiago drove away, but got into a traffic crash a short distance away, police said.

He was released on bond.
