Elmhurst Man Target Of Fake Job Scam: Cops

The resident was hired to do clerical work and told to send money through Zelle, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst man was the target of a fake job scam that was running through the Indeed employment website, police said.

According to a police report, a resident in the 500 block of South Kearsage Avenue told police Friday that he was hired by a company called Qdesign to do clerical work.

The company then sent him a check to buy supplies and requested he use the Zelle app to send a stranger money, police said. The victim deposited the check, but did not send the money.

An officer called Qdesign, a Chicago company, and was told the company was not hiring or associated with Indeed, police said.
