Elmhurst Offers Best Public Schools for Housing Dollar: Study

A study of affordable neighborhoods with the best schools ranked Elmhurst No. 1 for value in the Chicago metro area.

Elmhurst, and the other top picks from 20 metro areas in the U.S., “offer a way to buy into great schools relative to the quality of schools in each of these metro areas, at jaw-dropping good prices,” according to the study by Neighborhood Scout.

Scout’s Exclusive Neighborhood Public School Rating awarded Elmhurst a score of 86 out of 100, with a median house value of $260,105.

The study showed Elmhurst has a good educational environment and top-notch school systems within a low-cost neighborhood relative to the quality of its public schools.

Other top metropolitan neighborhoods include Brookline, Massachusetts in the Boston area, Queens in the New York City area and Narberth, Pennsylvania in the Philadelphia area.
