Elmhurst Pair Face Child Endangerment Charges

A 5-year-old walking alone prompted a police response, according to a report.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst man and woman are facing child endangerment charges after police found unsupervised children in their house, authorities said.

The 30-year-old woman and 31-year-old man live in the 400 block of North Highview Avenue, police said.

Shortly before sunset Monday, police were called about a 5-year-old seen walking outside, police said. Officers said they found the child's house, where his young siblings were home alone, police said.

The man and woman were taken to the police station and then released. Police said they notified the state Department of Children and Family Services.
