The district says it wants to set "realistic and impactful" diversity and equity goals.

ELMHURST, IL — Earlier this month, the Elmhurst Park District hired a consultant to look at diversity, equity and inclusion issues.
The consultant is Tamekia Scott of Antioch-based Edquity-Minded Consulting. She established her firm in 2020 and has more than 20 years of experience, according to a district news release.
The district said it plans to spend up to $31,560 with the firm.

According to the release, the district's focus on diversity, equity and inclusion is a priority in its strategic plan. Last year, the district formed a 14-employee team, which gathered feedback from other parks and recreation agencies on diversity initiatives.
Based on that feedback, the team recommended an organizational assessment, which it said was necessary for carrying out "realistic and impactful" diversity goals. It suggested hiring an independent firm for the job.
