Elmhurst Police Participate In Holiday Enforcement Campaign
The current campaign started Monday and will run through Jan. 2.

ELMHURST, IL — The Elmhurst Police Department has been awarded a year-long grant by the Illinois Department of Transportation in an effort to reduce fatal and serious-injury crashes through additional enforcement of DUI, seatbelt, and distracted driving laws. The department said the current campaign started Monday and will run through Jan. 2.
According to the department, the grant allows extra officers to be on patrol, watching for impaired drivers, seatbelt violations, and distracted drivers. The majority of this extra enforcement will take place during the overnight hours, which is statistically the most dangerous time to be on the roadway.
Police said anyone who plans to be drinking alcohol during holiday activities and festivities should make alternate transportation arrangements. Citizens are also encouraged to call 911 if they see a vehicle that appears to be driven by an intoxicated driver
