Elmhurst Resident Gave Money, But Got No Date: Cops

The resident said the woman wanted money for a babysitter before going on a date, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – A woman who was supposedly going on a date with an Elmhurst resident may have scammed the resident out of money, police said.

The resident in the 300 block of Oaklawn Avenue had scheduled the date for last Thursday. Beforehand, the woman asked for money, so she could pay her babysitter, according to a police report. The resident sent the woman the money.

The woman kept seeking more money, with the victim complying with a request once more, police said. After doing so, the resident realized it might be a scam and called the police.
