Elmhurst Residents Charged With Domestic Battery

In another case, a woman faces charges after she kicked two employees, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police arrested people on charges of domestic battery, battery, DUI and felony retail theft. Here is information from the reports:

Domestic battery

  • A 44-year-old Elmhurst woman who lives in the 700 block of North Michigan Street was arrested about 4 p.m. Friday at her house on a domestic battery charge. Police said the woman threw an object at someone else, causing injury. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • A 36-year-old Elmhurst man who lives at the Atrium, 10 Willow Tree Court, was arrested about 10 p.m. Friday on two counts of domestic battery. Police said the man was found driving on North Addison Avenue after battering someone else at his home. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

  • A 39-year-old Bellwood woman was arrested about 11 p.m. Friday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, on two counts of battery, three counts of resisting or obstructing an officer, and one count of disorderly conduct. Police said the woman refused to leave and kicked two employees. She was released and issued a no-trespass notice at the hospital.

DUI

  • A 51-year-old Schiller Park man was arrested about 5 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of West Grand Avenue on charges of DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Police said he was involved in a single-car crash. He was released.
  • A 33-year-old Berkeley man was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at York Street and Butterfield Road on charges of DUI, driving the wrong way on the roadway and driving an uninsured car. He was released.

Felony retail theft

  • Catherine Garrett, 56, of Chicago, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on two counts of felony theft and counts of burglary, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of another person's credit card. In the same incident, Jasmine N. Garrett, 31, of Berwyn, was arrested on a count of felony retail theft. Police said officers met with Catherine Garrett outside the store, where she relinquished the stolen merchandise. Police said they found her with heroin and drug paraphernalia.
