Elmhurst Restaurant Suspects Employee In Theft: Cops
In another case, the city issued a chronic nuisance warning to a household in a local neighborhood.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving theft by an employee, a chronic nuisance, fugitive drivers, a blocked tailpipe, threats from a hacker and a stolen catalytic converter. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Theft by employee
- An employee is suspected of entering Dairy Queen, 143 N. York St., after it closed Sunday and stealing money. An investigation is pending.

- A chronic nuisance warning was issued Monday to a house in the 400 block of North Van Auken Street.
Fugitive drivers
- An officer tried to stop the driver of a white Dodge Durango for improper lane usage about 2:30 a.m. Monday at Lake Street and Interstate 290. But the driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290.
- An officer pulled up behind a black Jeep Grand Cherokee about 1 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of South York Street. The driver then sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290 from Roosevelt Road.
Tailpipe blocked

- A woman discovered that someone put material in her car's tailpipe overnight Sunday in the 200 block of North Highland Avenue. The material became dislodged upon starting the car. There was no damage. An investigation is pending.
Threats from hacker
- A resident in the 600 block of South Parkside Avenue told police Tuesday that a cyber hacker had been harassing and threatening him and his company. An investigation is pending.
Converter stolen
- A catalytic converter was stolen overnight Monday from a truck in the 300 block of South West Avenue.
Porch piracy
- Two packages were stolen about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday from outside a house in the 400 block of South Berkley Avenue.
Theft
- A man entered Elmhurst Plaza Standard car repair shop, 217 E. Butterfield Road, about 10 a.m. Wednesday. When the man left, a scan tool was missing. The man left in a blue Chevrolet Equinox.
