Elmhurst Rolls Out Red Carpet for Environmental Film Festival

Elmhurst Cool Cities Coalition and Elmhurst College will host a screening of the documentary Paris to Pittsburgh as part of the 2019 One Earth Film Festival on Sun., March 3, 1 p.m. at Elmhurst College, Illinois Hall, Schaible Science Center.

The One Earth Film Festival presents compelling environmental films and programming to bring about an understanding of climate change, sustainability and the power of people, and to initiate positive actions for the planet.

With the United States’ withdrawal from The Paris Climate Agreement, citizens around the country are taking matters into their own hands. Paris to Pittsburgh explores the very real social and economic impacts to climate change-fueled disasters and features voices from local leaders and everyday Americans from Pittsburgh to Puerto Rico.

A question and answer period with environmental advocates will follow the film. Post-film questions will be addressed by home energy efficiency, solar and municipal sustainability experts.
Representatives from Citizens Climate Lobby, ComEd, DuPage Clean Energy Coalition, Sierra Club River Prairie Group, and Elmhurst Cool Cities will share opportunities for local action on sustainability.

In addition to Elmhurst, three other screenings of One Earth Film Festival movies are slotted in DuPage and Kane counties. Waubonsee Community College in Aurora will screen The Human Element on Mon., March 4, 7 p.m.; College of DuPage will present The Superfood Chain on Tues., March 5, 7 p.m., and Into the Okavango on Thurs., March 7, 7 p.m.

One Earth Film Festival reaches audiences all over the Chicagoland region with screenings of 28 award-winning films at 60 locations around the city and in surrounding suburbs. This is the fifth consecutive year Elmhurst Cool Cities and Elmhurst College will partner to showcase a film.

The full Festival runs from March 1-10. Tickets for most films are free, with a recommended $8 per person contribution to support the Festival. Tickets for Paris to Pittsburgh are limited, and this movie is expected to sell out. Reserve tickets at www.oneearthfilmfest.org.
