Elmhurst Senior Citizen Volunteers Recognized At Ceremony

13 seniors never seek recognition and help the less privileged, city says.

ELMHURST, IL — The Senior Citizens Commission in Elmhurst last week honored 13 "exceptional and outstanding" senior volunteers at a ceremony. Award recipients were recognized for their commitment, kindness and generosity through selfless efforts and dedication that provide comfort and relief to the lives of the less privileged and most vulnerable, according to a city news release.

"These individuals do behind the scenes work, and never seek recognition for all that they do to help make our city the best it can be and what it is today — a great place to live," the city said in a news release.

The “2019 Outstanding Senior Citizen Service Award” was awarded to Mary Jo Corbe and Kim Hlavenka. The five seniors awarded the "2019 Senior Service Award" were Pat Campbell, Joan Hoff, Margaret Franson Pruter, Sheila Reiter and Stanley Zawila.
