Elmhurst Settles With Ex-Paramedic
The person claimed to be the victim of workplace discrimination.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst aldermen voted unanimously Monday to settle with a former paramedic for the city's ambulance contractor.
City officials said the former paramedic would get $48,000, but they did not identify the person.
According to a resolution, the paramedic worked for Superior Ambulance for 15 months, leaving in August.

The person threatened to file a claim against Superior and the city with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the resolution said. The allegation involved workplace discrimination.

In other cases over the last five years, the city has released more information about the recipients of settlements.
In February 2020, the City Council approved a settlement with a man who claimed local police violated his civil rights. The council's meeting agenda included the man's name.
In February 2022, the council settled with a local man who sued the police after his arrest. His name was divulged in the agenda.
In April 2022, the city struck an agreement with a woman in a trip-and-fall case, disclosing her name in the process.
Two months ago, though, the city did not release the name of a police department job applicant who settled with the city for a small amount over her allegation that the city mishandled a background inquiry. The agenda documents included the applicant's court case number, from which she could be identified.
