Elmhurst Shop Opens In Spot With Bad Past
The new owner wants to make clear he has nothing to do with the previous ownership.
ELMHURST, IL – Last week, a new business set up shop at 927 S. York St. in Elmhurst. It's a break from the past.
In an interview, owner Nate Fak said he wanted to make one thing clear: The new business has nothing to do with the old one.
His business is called Quick Fix Mobile & Repair.

A year ago, Repair Geekz, which was in the same place, was the target of repeated customer complaints. Customers were unable to retrieve their items that they put in the shop's care to be repaired.
The police department said it determined that the business owner stopped communicating with customers, closed the business to the public and did not return equipment. The business was evicted.

The police took the unusual step of collecting the electronics for safekeeping, gathering the items from what they called the "extremely disorganized" storage area.
The items were taken to the police station, inventoried and stored securely, so customers could reunite with their equipment, police said.
A person associated with Repair Geekz was in trouble with the law a number of times, a history documented by Patch.
In the interview, Fak said he found out about the previous business' practices after the new shop opened. But he said he has nothing to do with the past business.
"We're different management. We're different owners," he said.
The store has been remodeled, Fak said.
